There are a lot of ways in the game of Basketball to make others believe you are fast! You can master both hand finishes, you can be deadly from outside so defenders have to respect you and most importantly you can stay low. The lower you get the harder you are to guard and the quicker you become! A perfect example of an “Average” athlete making himself look lightning fast was Steve Nash! Nash always made sure that he followed a golden rule in basketball when attacking the basket….Get your SHOULDER lower than the defenders HIP!! As you attack a defender if you can get your shoulder lower than the defenders hip bone than there is no way they can stay in front of you.
Now keep in mind that getting low is only half the battle. The other half of the battle will be getting close enough to that defenders hip to actually make contact. This is Golden Rule number 2…Go by the defender NOT around the defender!
